Ahead of opening night earlier this week we invited some rather special guests to visit Giffords Circus from Gloucestershire Young Carers to learn some circus skills with much-loved circus clown, Tweedy, and have a tour of the circus behind the scenes.
“We are really happy to welcome children from Gloucestershire Young Carers to Giffords,” said Nell Gifford, owner of Giffords Circus.
“Young carers are often over-looked, and we were alarmed to learn that there are up to 7,000 children in Gloucestershire that provide care and emotional support to their families.”
When the young carers visited Giffords Circus on Tuesday, Giffords Circus also took the opportunity to present them with a cheque for £300 towards their work.
“Ele Semadeni, Operations Lead for Gloucestershire Young Carers, said, "We are delighted that Giffords Circus chose to support our charity. The money will go directly to our work with the young carers we support around the county of Gloucestershire. But partnerships are more than just about funding. We try to provide young carers with breaks from their adult-sized responsibilities at home and Giffords offered a group of the young people an evening of fun. Thank you Giffords for helping us to support the 'young' in young carer."
Giffords Circus is passionate about supporting local schools and charities along its UK tour route and chose to support Gloucestershire Young Carers after learning about all the great work that it does for young carers in the local community.
Giffords Circus shows are fully booked at Stratton Meadows, Cirencester tickets are available for the last few weeks of the tour at Fennells Farm near Bisley until 29th September 2019.
