Circus Sauce is possibly the UK's only travelling restaurant and tours each summer with Giffords Circus around the Cotswolds and London. Circus Sauce has the following vacancies for the 2018 season to join a established team.  

Pizza Chef de Party – 23rd April – 1st October

Art Department Opportunities

Calling all painters and art students, Giffords Circus Art Department needs you!

Short-term work shadowing opportunities at Giffords Circus (April - May 2018) The Art Department at Giffords Circus is looking for volunteers to work at our Gloucestershire site on set building, painting, and prop-making for our 2018 show ‘My Beautiful Circus’. You will shadow our Head of Art through her day to day activities and perform basic general tasks under supervision. Work will include; prop making, decorative painting, signwriting, textile embellishments and carpentry.

Applicants must have strong painting and textile skills and a keen eye for detail. Ideal opportunity for an art graduate or current student looking to gain work experience in theatre/show set design and prop construction. An interest and aptitude for signwriting and decorative painting very desirable. Possible opportunities to work with and learn from experienced signwriters.

Positions available from beginning of April to mid-May 2018. Own transport and being local to the area (Stroud) would be beneficial. Successful intern candidates will be provided with meals when on site and have their travel expenses reimbursed. Light & Sound Technician/Operator

Light & Sound Technician/Operator 2nd April to 5th October 2018

Giffords Circus is looking for a show Light & Sound Technician/Operator for our 2018 summer tour.  Some of the main responsibilities include: working with the lighting designer, sound designer and director during rehearsals, rig and de rig of the sound and lighting with the move team on tour, working with the Site Technician during the tour to maintain the sound and lighting standards, operating the sound and lighting during the shows.  The successful applicant must be proactive, a problem solver, excellent communicator, must be able to work under own initiative and as part of a team directed by others and will live on site with the circus for the duration of the tour.  Accommodation and some meals provided.

Musicians Auditions for 2018

We are looking for brass and multi-wind players and a pianist for our 2018 season. The show, directed by Cal McCrystal, combines circus and theatre with a strong musical element.

We will be playing and devising an original score. At this stage of development, we will be coming from the direction of Ragtime to 1930’s-era Swing: Foxtrot, Maxixe, Charleston, Jitterbug..but there will probably be also some Disco.

You will be an integral part of the whole show; an energetic and enthusiastic approach to performance is a must.

The auditions will be in London in February. Please bring 2-3 contrasting pieces, and be prepared to improvise or sight-read.

The season will be from 2nd April until 1st October, including 4 weeks rehearsals at full pay. You will be performing in an international troupe of jugglers, acrobats, horses, clowns and chickens in a tent you have helped put up yourself. Accommodation provided in the form of a vintage circus wagon! This is hard work, but incredibly rewarding.
