Circus Exhibition at Gloucester Folk Museum!
Posted by Nell Gifford, on 20 August 2009
At the moment there is a circus exhibition in the Gloucester Folk Museum, which features the beautiful William Simmonds puppets, as well some of our materials and other beautiful circus and fairground pieces. It is well worth a visit – the puppets are beautiful and each as its own distinctive character. It is so great to see traditional circus being brought out of the archive and celebrated. It is so hard these days to run a village green circus and any media that brings the circus into the public eye in this way is so be celebrated. Well worth a visit! Gloucester Folk Museum
In fact why not visit Gloucester for the day – the docks are majestic, the Cathedral incredible and the museums intriguing and thoughtfully curated. I think it is one of the great assets of the Southwest but often over looked.
Meanwhile back at the headquarters we are plugging away at the tour 2010. The levels of bureaucracy we have to deal with increase every day but the stresses of dealing with this are counteracted by the excitement of talking to new artistes, holding auditions and bringing together a brand new company.
